Organic NURBS Modeling - Oct '04



This was my second project in Maya and used the NURBS modeling tools and procedural texturing. The composition was designed to be somewhat abstract. I was a little lost at first trying to decide what to do, so my girlfriend suggested dandelions and this is what came out of it. Some of the more complex shapes in the image were created in part using a MEL script I wrote, which procedurally modeled the petals on some of the white dandelions. I used ramp shaders, bump maps, and glow effects to create shading networks for the dandelions. Most of the project was still learning the tools, so the composition took me a couple weeks to complete.
