Current WorkShort Film - Panes![]() This is a short film I am working on that I started for a class at Parkland College. Click on the image above to see some shots we have been working on. We arranged in sort of a simple teaser trailer format, just a sequence of shots to some background music. Not all of the shots are finished but it gives an idea for the sort of look we are going for and what we have been working on. It may take a minute to load so be patient, read the plot summary while you're waiting. When I have more time (after I move and get settled in California) I will post some full quality screen shots on here. We will also hopefully get this thing a webpage where we can post some of the technical challenges we have been dealing with in this film and how we are overcoming them by integrating a variety of software packages and doing a lot of compositing in post. Plot Summary: A middle-aged man sits alone in his home staring out the window at the rain. He looks somewhat unhappy. As he sits, items in the room behind him begin to disappear until all that is left is the man and his chair, and he looks around to find himself in the middle of a street. The street is filled with windows and doors, and as he begins to explore it he finds through each window is a snapshot of a more perfect, more colorful world than his own. He has the option of entering any one of these worlds and adopting a new life within it, but something draws him away from each door. He eventually stumbles upon the window to his own room and sees his empty chair, and the walls behind him are lined with pictures and items from his own life. He enters and browses through the pictures to notice that each one shows a scene he had previously witnessed through a window, and although they are less perfect than the windowed worlds, they contain members of his own family and pieces of his own life. He decides that nothing can replace his own life, and as he sits back down he turns the chair around to face away from the window. In the window behind him is another figure standing on the street now envying the life this man has. This is a project I'm working on with Brian that involves writing a 3D CFD solver to integrate with Maya that we can use primarily to do water simulations. I'll get some more information and some screen shots posted soon (hopefully). | ||||||||||||
