The Dancing Cube Man - Sep '05

This was a small project I did for a class at Parkland College in order become familiar with the rigging and animation process in Maya. This creature, whatever he may be, is just a simple collection of beveled cubes arranged to look like a body and a few arms. I gave the character a simple skeleton and did a simple rigid bind. I set up some IK (inverse kinematics) handles for the arms. For the spine I created some custom attributes that made it easy to bend and curl his back. I then did a simple little animation with him to try and give him some character. Click on the animation to see him perform. Keep in mind it was my first time animating with skeletons, so I still have a lot to learn.
